The underwater acoustic positioning system “Soko-ni-Iruka,” jointly developed by the research group of Associate Professor Tadashi Ebihara and Assistant Professor Atsushi Tsuchiya together with Aomi Construction Co., Ltd., received the Blue Innovation Award of the Blue Economy Award. The system accurately locates underwater robots even in shallow water.
Established by Shizuoka Prefecture, Shizuoka City, and the Marine Open Innovation Institute (MaOI), the award honors outstanding marine technologies and services, either already in practical use or aiming for social implementation, that are expected to have a strong social impact.
